iPhone Debut — A Birth at Full Banshee Wail iPhone Activation Poll
Jun 30 2007

It seems iPhone activations are slowed by number portability, judging by anecdotal evidence. One AppleSwitcher regular faced a day or more of waiting due to the complex phone company mechanics of assigning his current phone number to his new iPhone account.

So far, the “experience” stopped being cool as soon as bfd left the reality distortion field at the Apple Store and had to start dealing with AT&T reality.

Probably the way it’s supposed to work, but after finally waiting until this morning to go back to AT&T to get “pre-approved” so the activation process through iTMS would continue, bfd returns home and tries to activate.

Any iPhone users care to comment on their experiences with/without porting their numbers to their iPhones?

Just a final word on this, apparently anything that can happen will happen.

    This number might help:

    1-877-800-3701 - direct to Tier 2

A bit frustrating that it’s not instant..but geeze gotta chill just a tad. We could be on patrol in Iraq right? Need to get things in perspective. Not that big of a deal to wait a bit for old number from Sprint to move. Daughters moved today. Incredible tool !
