AppleSwitcher moderator Keef makes a case for why you should avoid the new 20″ iMacs. If you care about screen quality you should read this. I noticed and remarked on the poor viewing angle of the iMac’s display while briefly using a new 20 at an Apple Store. Alternatives: get a last-gen iMac 20″ or the current-gen iMac 24″.

From the Apple Support Discussions, it sounds like the screen on the 24″ model has a number of problems. It is starting to look like these new iMacs have the potential to be a catastrophic flop unless Apple can fix the widespread screen problems on both models.

Say it isn’t’ so about the 24″. I am actually counseling clients to stay away from the 20″ and shoot for the 24″ if possible. If it turns out the 24″ are really no better, what do I tell them now? Save money, get 20″ iMac and then splurge on a quality second LCD ????
