As tempting as it is to save $50, I think for the CEO of the Big Contract™, I’d be better off putting his new 8GB iPhone on the AMEX. Unlike refurbs, I’m pretty sure a new iPhone would have increased coverage via AMEX. Extended warranty, accidental damage within the first x amount of days among other nice perks.
