Canon i960 printer cleaning

Postby Pops » Fri Oct 03, 2008 4:51 pm

Canon i960 color cartridge printer. Both cyan and photo cyan print heads are clogged and don't respond to cleaning/deep cleaning.

I've read everything about special "cleaning cartridges" to removing the head assembly and soaking it (where I'm leaning). Does anyone have any experience - maybe success - with this problem?

Unplug the thing.
Put rubbing alchol on a qtip, gently dab the printhead a few times, then a can of pressurized air.

Plug printer into power, try the deep clean cycle again, if it didn't work repeat. Make sure to do the "alignment" cycle when done though.

Did this a few times with the exact same printer, worked like a charm pretty nice little printer when it works

Very warm water under the facet.

Great printer, but when the head isn't working you're fscked!
But it's Duh! with real statistics to back it up

I got the same one. Wonderful printer.

When mine clogged last year I "human engineered" a free new printhead from Canon tech support. They even fedexed it.

All these home remedies lead to ruination. Forget it.

Would the tech support guy respond to, "Otto sent me."? No luck with alcohol. At least on the print head.

I had the same problem for the first time last week. (Right after reading your post - thanks!) Multiple deep cleanings did the trick for me.

I soaked it in Windex for 24 hrs. It worked....
