Anybody have a PC and USB flash drive to spare?

Postby Pops » Wed Dec 09, 2009 3:10 pm

My goto kid is in Europe and unavailable. Has anyone a PC and USB flashdrive stick they'd like to send me with a downgraded Windows A05 or A04 BIOS so I can hack another Dell Mini. I have no Windows machine, so can't get the BIOS (The Dell 10v arrived today with an A06 BIOS) :(. I'll be happy to mail the flash drive right back with a jar of pickles and maybe even a half pint of plum chutney.

Any takers?

I have both, but no idea where I'd get the BIOS.

I have NEVER done WINDOZE so have no idea what this means. Maybe you do.

I'll see about grabbing an extra USB stick... those instructions looked easy.

edit: so i was clearing off my 1 GB microcenter drive and halfway thru copying the data, it unmounted from my macbook pro and now it won't mount again.
i think it shit the bed, screwed the pooch, bought the farm, kicked the bucket.

oh well, at least thumb drives are cheap, and that one was free.

Didn't even cost me that jar of pickles I promised.
:)

If the kid gets back from Amsterdam without ditching in the Atlantic, I think he's got a stick. I am almost tempted to fool with this thing in Windoze XP just for the experience. I am completely clueless on that side.

Thanks for the try, cunty.

What's your window of opportunity? I still may be able to pick up a stick this week. I do want to replace the dead 1GB with a larger one anyway.

You don't need a USB stick if you both have Drop Box. CB can load it and IM Pops the link and password. Pops can then download it and burn it to disk or eat it for lunch, whatever.

won't Pops have to format the USB stick using a PC / command line?

I have some SCSI cables and terminators you can have. I can also give you some blank floppy disks, as well as RamDoubler and Conflict Catcher too! Free!

That doesn't help though huh?

It does require a PC, or at least the ability to run a PC application. Would Crossover work?
