I have not used my Leica M9 for a while. I took it out for a random stroll downtown today. I used a Leica M9, a 35mm f1.8 LTM Nikkor, and a Zeiss 50mm f1.5 Sonnar ZM.

My son at my dad's, August 2014. Jimbo et. al., would you kill (clone grass over) the hose? Or leave it?

A guy I knew back in the day. August 2013.

He now lives out of a van in Arches National Park in Utah, climbing every day in the sunshine, year-round. With the dog.

What do you think, Matt? Better or worse?

I have mixed feelings about it.

On the one hand, the garden hose reinforces the composition of the photo. On the other hand, the hose is somewhat bright in the photo, and I think it distracts from the subject. And its line pulls your eye away from the subject as well.

I thought I'd prefer the photo with the garden hose intact, but now I'm leaning towards how it looks with the hose removed.

Thanks Keef. Yea, I'm with you. It competes for Photo Hero with the subject... my eye goes back and forth between them. Better without.

Dodge the hose if you think it’s too bright.

You have the hose intersecting the flag, kid standing on the hose... even the sandals work, tells you who’s kid this is.
