10.5.8, user cannot login

Remember Leopard? It's my everyday OS.
Setup:
Quad G5
10.5.8
Boot drive is a WD Black 640, 2008ish. This is the 4th G5 it's been in. It's the culmination of upgrades/hacks going back to my PM 6500.
Second drive is WD Black 2TB, I assume mid 2010s. This drive has my user folder. The whole user folder, not just data.

Applications are at root level with access to all accounts.
Mine, Kids, Wife, and troubleshooting account.

My dilemma,
Woke the G5 from sleep, started up Leopard WebKit(I thought), Safari went to WebKit page instead of normal blank page. Reset Safari Apple homepage comes up. Oh oh, seems like we're back to stock Safari 5.0.6. No bookmarks. Nada goddamn thing.

Reboot into single user mode, fsck, repair permissions.
Computer boots to login screen, all 4 accounts show. Cool. Can't log into my account. I can log into all 3 other accounts with no problems. Just my account on the other drive. The drive with my account is mounted in all 3 other accounts. I can see my home folder, and the size seems right. I just can't fucking log into it.

I know it could be hundreds of things given all the shit/hacks done to the OS, but this a first for me other than all out drive failure.

Any ideas? I wonder if it's as simple as my hard link broke for some reason. Wonder if I can just reassociate the home folder in the user panel? I don't know why I didn't try that yet.

One last thing, when making changes in the other accounts, it accepts my credentials as an admin, and sudo/su root work fine in terminal.

Make a new account and import to it from the real account?

Kludged it.
Somehow my drives/partitions are xyz(2) instead of xyz.
Linked home folder back as IwishIhadsomemulch(2) instead of IwishIhadsomemulch. Same as it ever was.
How the fuck everything changed is to (2) is beyond me. Probably nuke and pave, and start over. Maybe add a 10.4 partition and play some Myst in Classic.
